Ok, so the title is a bit of a stretch since the date of the following newspaper cover is obviously not New Years 1929 but January 2 is close enough, right?  And in case you’re wondering, there’s not really any significance attached to 1929. I just happened to have the 1929 edition of The United Churchman out for another reason and the book is so big that I figured I might as well get another scan from it while I had it out. In any case, it’s kind of neat to see what was happening at the start of a new year some 85 years ago.
