1.) Condolences: Lorne Smith

 

Our sympathy is extended to the Rev. Wayne Smith and family on the death of his father, Lorne Glenwood Smith, who passed away Monday, January 4, 2016 in Chatham, Ontario at the age of 89. Survived by his children: the Rev. Wayne Smith (Rev. Carol) of New Brunswick, Kevin Smith of Hong Kong, Wendy Rideout (Derek) of Sarnia and Dugal Smith (Marlene) of Croton, many grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. The funeral service was held from the John C. Badder Funeral Home, Thamesville on Friday, January 8, 2016. Interment in Mayhew-Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Thamesville, ON.

2.) United Church of Canada Foundation Grants:
“Seeds of Hope” Granting Cycle is Now Open

 

The spring 2016 “Seeds of Hope” granting cycle is now open and accepting applications! Applications are due by 8pm EST on April 15th, 2016. Submission by email is preferred.

The McGeachy Senior Scholarship, an award designed to develop leaders who will provide The United Church of Canada with discernment and direction that inspire and challenge the Church towards creative and faithful mission is also open for applications and nominations.

3.) 2015 Mission and Service Year-End

 

Please ensure that all Mission & Service gifts for the year 2015 are transferred and received at the General Council Office by Friday, January 29th, 2016.  If you make transfers by cheque, you may want to consider using PAR or an online bank transfer to streamline the process.  To make any changes to how you transfer gifts for Mission & Service from your pastoral charge, please contact Nicole Chicote at nchicote@united-church.ca or 1-800-268-3781, ext. 3072

4.) Pine Hill Divinity Hall Continuing Education Bursary – Deadline Feb 1

5.)  Camp Abegweit Job Opportunities
