1. Condolences – Moira Moore

Sympathy is extended to the Rev. Roger Moore and family on the death of his wife, Moira Moore, 74 yrs, who passed away on Saturday April 16th.  Granting Moira’s own wishes, there will be no formal visitation or funeral service. Cremation has taken place and at a later date there will be a private reflection and scattering of her ashes.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro. Online messages of condolence may be sent to the family by visiting: www.ColchesterCommunity.com.  Full obituary at:  http://colchesterfuneral.frontrunnerpro.com/book-of-memories/2477323/Moore-Moira/service-details.php

2. Conference Annual Meeting Bus

This year in an effort to reduce costs and provide an alternative to carpooling, we are offering the possibility of renting a bus to bring people to conference – at no charge to those who take the bus.  This will only be possible if we are able to reduce the number of cars coming to conference.  The bus will arrive in Sackville, NB on Thursday at 12pm, giving folks plenty of time to check-in, grab a quick lunch and then head to the new delegates orientation.  The bus would leave Conference at 12pm from the Civic Centre on Sunday.  A bus could potentially come from PEI or Halifax/Truro area.  Please speak with the folks you usually carpool with and see if this is something you all are interested in.  To express your interest, please fill out the following form at https://ucceast.ca/91st-annual-meeting-2016/2016-cam-bus-travel/ no later than May 2 (please note that we do not have all the pick-up location and times arranged yet). Following the deadline a decision will be made and all those who showed interest will be contacted.

3. Archives Notice

The Archives will be closed from April 14 until May 11 inclusive.  If you have any requests please email archives@marconf.ca and Sarah will respond to you when she returns from vacation.

4. Conversations that Matter!

At the Annual Meeting of Conference we will once again “open space” for important conversations.  Five years ago we tried this for the first time.  Over 70 topics were posted for engaging during the day.  People shared their ideas and passions  in conversations such as:

  • Ecumenism
  • Better Rural Public Transportation
  • Welcoming Youth and Young Families
  • Out of Our Bulidings Into the Community
  • Progressive Christianity – A Maritime Network
  • Giving Youth a Voice
  • Are We Forgetting the Basics: prayer and forgiveness?

… and so many more!

Many of these conversations led to bold actions – such as Maritime Conference becoming an Affirming Ministry!

You will find your invitation and more information about Open Space Technology on the Conference website with the materials for this year’s Annual Meeting.  What conversation is burning in your heart?
