Now that we’re a few days past Thanksgiving, hopefully our turkey hangovers have dissipated and we can start thinking about food again without feeling nauseous. The following recipes are from a cookbook put out by the Jost Unit of what was then Gordon Providence United Church in Bridgetown, N.S. There are a couple coffee dessert recipes thrown in for good measure too.
As a little aside, the Nova Scotia Archives recently launched a web resource called “What’s Cooking: Food, Drink and the Pleasures of Eating in Old-Time Nova Scotia.” I definitely recommend checking it out, you can find lots of old recipes as well as photographs and newspaper clippings all related to food (http://novascotia.ca/archives/cooking/).
