1. Condolences –


Del Landry

Sympathy is extended to Rev. Barbara Cairns and family in the death of her mother, Del Landry, who passed away in Cape Breton on Thursday January 5. Memorial service for her will be held later in the spring.



Rev. Bobby Fillier

Sympathy  and prayers are extended to the Rev. Matthew Fillier on the passing of his father, the Rev. Bobby Wilson Fillier who passed away on November 28th, 2016.  A more complete obituary is attached here.

Friends and relatives may call Hendren Funeral Home, Lakefield Chapel, 66 Queen Street Lakefield on January 11, 2016 visitation 2 to 4 pm.  A Celebration of Bobby’s life will be at Northminister United Church on January 12 at 11am,  with visitation from 10 to 11 am.  A reception will follow at Northminister Church.  Further arrangements in Newfoundland will be announced later date.  Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Paraplegic Association, War Amps or of your choosing.



Dayna Jeanette Lavoie-Hayward

Sympathy is extended to Mary MacDermid and family on the passing of her daughter in-law Dayna who passed away on January 4th. Obituary is online at

2. January Hours for Archives and AVEL Office 


The Archives and AVEL office will be closed from January 16 to January 24th  inclusive. In the meantime you can send Sarah an email at or leave a voicemail at 506 536 1334 ext 7.

3. Our Committees Need You!


Serving on a Conference committee is a great way to contribute to the work of the church. A new online form will help match potential volunteers with vacancies.

You will be asked your contact information, past experience, skills, and interests. You may express interest in one particular committee, or simply indicate “Willing to serve where needed.”

When a vacancy opens, a member of the Nominating Committee may contact you. Filling out the form is an expression of interest only – not a commitment. All members of conference and presbyteries are strongly encouraged to fill it out as soon as possible.

4. Attention M&S Treasurers

Happy New Year! It is time to check your Mission and Service donations.  Have the donations been submitted for 2016? Is your congregation getting close to its goal? Get your donation submitted in time to count towards your 2016 objective. Thanks for all that you do for Mission and Service! Don’t forget to check out the Stewardship Tool Kit which has lots of information and resources available!

General Council 43 Youth Forum Coordinator

We are seeking an established leader in youth ministry with excellent planning skills who can recruit, resource, and coordinate Youth Forum for the 43rd General Council.

Task Group on Admissions Policy and Procedures

A small group of lay and ministry personnel, including two ministers who have recently been admitted from a country other than Canada, are needed to evaluate the church’s current admissions policy and procedures.

Closing Date:  February 16, 2017


Task Group on an Association of Ministers

Ministry personnel from all streams of ministry are sought for this task group that will assess the interest in establishing an association of ministers.

Financial Assistance Committee

The committee seeks two people who will bring strong experience in related financial matters, experience with financial issues in Indigenous ministries, or both.
