5. Our Committees Need You!

Serving on a Conference committee is a great way to contribute to the work of the church. A new online form will help match potential volunteers with vacancies.

You will be asked your contact information, past experience, skills, and interests. You may express interest in one particular committee, or simply indicate “Willing to serve where needed.”

When a vacancy opens, a member of the Nominating Committee may contact you. Filling out the form is an expression of interest only – not a commitment. All members of conference and presbyteries are strongly encouraged to fill it out as soon as possible.

6. Ways More Than Friends can work for you and your wedding couples

Do you have weddings planned for the summer?

Consider getting a More Than Friends Marriage Preparation Leader package included in your 2017 budget. It’s a one-time purchase.

You don’t do many weddings?

Consider including the cost of a Couple Package in your “fees” so couples  can view the videos and work through the worksheets on their own.

Or you might want to offer a More Than Friends Couple package as a gift from the congregation.

Contact us through the More than Friends website for more information: https://morethanfriends.live/contact/

A Yearly Subscription is convenient and you save money, The Prayer Bench is offering two Yearly Subscription packages for 2017,  but only until January 31.

8. How to Ask from the Pulpit

February 7, 2017 (3:00 pm – 4:30 pm) Eastern Time

It can be tough to talk about money in a sermon. To some clergy it feels like begging for their salary; to others it’s hard to make the connection between the administrative needs of the church and the gospel of Jesus Christ.

In this webinar Dave Jagger and Roger Janes will share their experience of encouraging generosity from the pulpit and in other congregational settings, and describe how giving can be a spiritual discipline.

We’ll explore topics such as:

  • New research on why people give
  • Practical things that Dave and Roger have done successfully
  • How to be ready with clear answers when parishioners ask about generosity and church finance
  • How to connect mission and finance

Everyone who registers will receive a copy of Cliff Christopher’s book Not Your Parents’ Offering Plate!
