I’ve always been a fan of the church suppers, it’s always amazing how these dinners are pulled off so seamlessly. As it turns out though, putting on a church supper is no easy feat and it was no different in 1926. The following documents, which are from the United Church in Milltown, New Brunswick, provide a behind the scenes glimpse into all the work involved in putting together a church banquet. Mind you, this was in the time before dishwashers so you wouldn’t see me volunteering to be part of the Clearing Up Committee! Seeing as how the Men’s Unity Club was hosting the event, I’m assuming there was no arguing over who had to mash the potatoes.
