1. Saturday Worship at Conference Annual Meeting

 

Saturday worship at Maritime Conference will be a Taize-style worship service, and we are hoping to have the scripture read in a couple of different languages.  So far, we have readers in English, Gaelic, and kiSwahili – if you can read in another language, we would like to invite you to bring your bible and participate!

If you would like to read, please let Kate Jones know what language you would like to read in.  Kate can be reached by e-mail at kate_e_jones@yahoo.ca or in person at Maritime Conference on Thursday or Friday at Table Group 3.

Time and Location for Check-in
* Attendance must be confirmed at the check-in desk upon arrival.

Check-in is located at Tantramar Veterans Memorial Civic Centre (TVMCC): May 25, Thursday, from 11:00 am to 8:30 pm

YOUTH FORUM – Check-in is located at Windsor residence in the quad by Campbell/Jennings before proceeding to the TVMCC on May 25, Thursday, starting at 1:00 p.m.

INTERMEDIATES AT CONFERENCE – Check-in is located at Bennet/Bigelow residences at the corner of Salem and York Streets before proceeding to the TVMCC on May 25, Thursday, starting at 1:00 p.m.


5. Retirees and Jubilarians Banquet Tickets Still Available

 

Have you reserved your tickets for the Retirees and Jubilarians Banquet yet? The banquet will be held this year on Saturday, May 27th at 5:00 pm at the Sackville Royal Canadian Legion, 15 Lorne Street, Sackville.  Tickets must be reserved by Thursday May 25th and cost is $25 each. 9. Ready to take your french language skills to the next level?

 

Ready to take your french language skills to the next level?
Looking for a safe environment to try your skills?
Searching for ideas and support to introduce french into your ministry?

We need to hear from you before the end of June!

In cooperation with General Council Ministries in French, Maritime Conference is looking to offer a week-long immersion course to assist in developing french language capability as well as to work on strategies for introducing ministry in french into your local context. More details will be posted as planning develops.

Instruction will be offered by Angelika Piché, Director of French Leadership Development at United Theological College, Montreal, and by Carole Bourgault, a French language teacher and tutor from Moncton.

There are two possible dates for this course: October 30 to November 3, 2017 or November 6 to 10, 2017.

We expect to be able to keep the participant cost for the program under $300 (includes daily lunch). Local accommodations, other meals and travel are not included in this price. Bursary assistance will be available from both Conference and General Council.

10. “KidSpace” –  Workshop for Youth Leaders

 

Anyone interested in youth work in their churches is welcome to attend our “KidSpace” workshop sponsored by the Church in Action Committee of Sydney Presbytery. It will be held at United Heritage Church on Saturday, June 17, from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Planned workshops include: using technology with youth; Music and youth; Drama and Youth; an introduction to the Rotation style of church school; and discussions/questions on Best Practices in our churches. All welcome at UHC at 500 Charlotte St., Sydney, Cape Breton at 10 a.m. for coffee/muffins and registration. The day will begin at 10:30 a.m. with worship. We are suggesting a donation of $10 to help cover the cost of break foods and lunch.
