1. Condolences – Rev. Ronald (Ron) I. Maund
Our deepest sympathy is extended to Ilene (Norrie) and family on the death of the Rev. Ron Maund who passed away on Tuesday, January 30th at the Moncton Hospital. Ron’s funeral will take place at Park Royal United Church, 11 Christie Drive in Charlottetown PEI on Friday, February 2 at 2:00 PM with the Rev Kevin MacKenzie presiding and the Rev Bill MacLeod assisting.

2. Godly Play Core Training for Storytellers & Doorpersons
New Dates Spring 2018!
3 Saturdays: March 24, April 21, May 5 – 8:30am-5:30pm
Nashwaaksis United Church, Fredericton, NB
There are a lot of things you can learn from a book or a lecture, but Godly Play is best learned from the inside out.
At a Godly Play Core Training participants
· experience and learn about the different kinds of Godly Play stories;
· tell a story by heart and receive supportive feedback;
· learn the fundamentals of setting up your own Godly Play space and program.
Training includes three modules, each with a key plenary session and stories from one of the Godly Play genres:
Module A: Saturday, March 24th – 8:30 am -5:30 pm (Storm date April 14) – Sacred Stories & Creating Sacred Environments
Module B: Saturday, April 21st – 8:30 am – 5:30 pm – Parables & the Spirituality of the Child
Module C: Saturday, May 5th – 8:30 am – 5:30 pm – Liturgical Action Stories & the Community of Children
Modules may be attended in any order, over time and location. Certificate of Accreditation is awarded upon completion of all three required modules.

3. Refresher for Godly Play Storytellers and Doorpersons
Come again! Godly Play Storytellers and Doorpersons are invited to attend the Core Training as a refresher. Join with a new cohort of storytellers and share your experiences and refresh your skills. Choose one module or come for all three! Cost: $50 per day module includes lunch and snacks.

5. Youth Forum Seeking Facilitators
Maritime Conference Youth Forum is looking for some additional folks who are enthusiastic about youth ministry to be home group facilitators at the Spring 2018 Youth Forum event, which coincides with the Annual Meeting of Maritime Conference scheduled for May 24-27, 2018.
You would spend four faith-filled and inspirational days with youth between Grade 10 and age 19. It is a transformational experience for youth and facilitators alike.
In addition to being fully present at the event itself, facilitators must be available for a training weekend in Moncton May 4 to 6.

6. Third Party Neutral Conflict Resolution-Module 1- to be offered in February
AST welcomes the Canadian Institute for Conflict Resolution back to campus this term for a second offering of TPN1, the first module towards a Third Party Neutral Conflict Resolution Certificate. This is a prerequisite for all of the other TPN modules, so if you missed it when it was offered last fall, this your opportunity to take part in this 5-day training unit.

The Canadian Institute for Conflict Resolution and AST have partnered to bring this program to the AST campus. Known as TPN, this unique, comprehensive and accredited four-module program (160 hours), will teach participants how to uncover the sources and dynamics of conflicts, clarify intentions, and facilitate the development of solutions toward reconciliation.
TPN 1 is the first training module (of four), and participants will receive a 40-hour certificate, upon completion. (A 160-hour Third Party Neutral Program Certificate is issued upon completion of all four modules. Please refer to the CICR website for further information: http://www.cicr-icrc.ca)
TPN 1 is the prerequisite for all of the other TPN modules. In this first module, participants will:
- Explore the spectrum of conflict resolution.
- Examine the layers of conflict with an emphasis on deep-rooted / identity-based issues.
- Discover the core attributes of community-based conflict resolution.
- Learn the core principles for being an effective Third Party Neutral.
- Practice various techniques, including guidelines for mediators, the mediation process and process checklists.
- Be introduced to facilitation, group dynamics and framing of issues through role plays.

- As a certified mediator and facilitator with more than 15 years of experience, Patricia is an expert in conflict resolution. Passionately dedicated, she has taught all four modules of the TPN program since 2010.

7. Attention Church Secretaries/Administrators!
Maritime Church Adminsitrators Association’s annual conference will take place the weekend of April 27, 28, and 29, 2018.
Our mission statement: To provide experiences and to develop support systems for Church Administrators that will enable them to share ideas, concerns and resources, thus helping them to exercise their ministry more effectively.
New members welcome.
30th Anniversary Celerbations – this year marks our 30th year in existence… we encourage past and present admininstrators to join for a fun afternoon on the 28th at Tatamagouche Centre. Special guests: local author Sheree Fitch and special guest musicians Rev. Valerie Kingsbury and Chris Bowman.

8. United Church Men’s Spring Rally 2018
