1. Photos of Special Moments (CAM announcement #7)

The theme for the upcoming Conference Annual Meeting is #TrueStory (John 21:25). Conference members are invited to send in photos ahead of time which reflect a special moment, personality or event that occurred in your pastoral charge in the past, which may not have been fully captured in the minutes. We will be looking back on our past as a Conference and these photos might help stimulate table group discussions. Please email photos to dhewitt@marconf.ca.

2. Lead Staff for Regions Provisionally Appointed

Preparatory work for the implementation of changes authorized by the Remits continues to unfold. Regions have been determined: http://www.united-church.ca/news/final-report-regional-council-boundaries, and now the General Council Sub-Executive has provisionally appointed Executive Ministers for groupings of Regions: https://mailchi.mp/8701a5bc5c77/171205-1037213

Faith March-MacCuish (currently Executive Secretary for Newfoundland and Labrador Conference) has been named as Executive Minister for Regions 14, 15 and 16, which includes all of the current Maritime Conference (14 and 15) and all of the current Newfoundland and Labrador Conference (16). The appointment is “provisional,” pending the outcome of decisions to be made by the 43th General Council in July 2018. The transition date for moving into the new system is January 1, 2019.

3. Invitation to Table Group Facilitators –
#TrueStory: 93rd Annual Meeting of Maritime Conference

I’m writing to the members of Maritime Conference with an invitation on behalf of the Annual Meeting 2018 Planning Committee.

To say that The United Church of Canada and the Maritime Conference are moving through days of change and challenge is an understatement. The 93rd Annual Meeting of Maritime Conference will quite possibly be our last meeting in our current shape and structure. Although detailed information related to our future is unavailable at this time, the Annual Meeting Planning Committee is working to create an agenda that allows significant time for discussion, reflection and discernment. Most importantly, we will take time to celebrate the story of Maritime Conference as we have been and as we may become: #TrueStory.
