Lauren King – Youth and Young Adult Minister
It is with mixed emotions that we inform you that Lauren King, Youth and Young Adult Minister has ended their employment with the United Church and our Regional Councils. Their last day of work was September 13, 2019. While we will all miss Lauren and the contributions that they made during our busy time of transition in the church, we wish them well and extend heartfelt congratulations on their new position. Lauren has taken on a new job which will keep them closer to their home and offer more time for their love of farming. It has been a joy to work with Lauren and they have left an indelible mark on youth ministry in our Regions. Please join us in extending best wishes and continued blessings to Lauren in their new calling.

The Covenanting service for Rev. John Peter Anthony with Pugwash Pastoral Charge and River Philip Pastoral Charge will be held Oct.6, 11 am at the Collingwood United Church, 1451 Wyvern Rd., Collingwood, Cumberland County. All welcome. Refreshments to follow.
United Church Chaplaincy at Dalhousie University Multifaith Services will be designated an Affirming Ministry
On Wednesday, October 16th, the United Church Chaplaincy at Dalhousie University Multifaith Services will be designated an Affirming Ministry — this will be the first university UCC chaplaincy in Canada to be designated Affirming!
A Celebration including a ceremony, music, mingling and munchies will be held at 7:00 p.m. in Room 303 of the Dalhousie Student Union Building. Shaping a Just Canada – Thursday, Sept. 26, 6.00 – 8.30 pm Halifax
Citizens for Public Justice (CPJ), a faith based Christian organization that focuses on advocacy for just public policies will launch their pre-election readiness tool – Shaping a Just Canada – Thursday Sept. 26, 6.00 – 8.30 pm, O’Regan Hall, Halifax Central Library.
The tool covers participation in democracy; ensuring climate justice; ending poverty in Canada; and upholding refugee rights. KAIROS Halifax, Face of Poverty, and other local groups supporting climate justice and refugee rights are co-sponsoring this event. Click here for more information

Refresher for Godly Play Storytellers and Doorpersons – Godly Play Storytellers and Doorpersons are invited to attend the Core Training as a refresher. Region 15 is looking for volunteers to fill positions identified in our Governance Handbook (available online at https://ucceast.ca/56353-region-15-governance-handbook-v1-22/ ). The Nominating Committee has done an admirable job in finding many volunteers but we still need to find a few more. Please consider identifying yourself as a volunteer for a position or two! Together we can work towards establishing a strong new structure that will allow us to continue be a vital and vibrant United Church in Nova Scotia and Bermuda.
