United Church Chaplaincy at Dalhousie University Multifaith Services will be designated an Affirming Ministry
On Wednesday, October 16th, the United Church Chaplaincy at Dalhousie University Multifaith Services will be designated an Affirming Ministry — this will be the first university UCC chaplaincy in Canada to be designated Affirming!
A Celebration including a ceremony, music, mingling and munchies will be held at 7:00 p.m. in Room 303 of the Dalhousie Student Union Building. We’re inviting on-campus and multifaith partners, as well as all nearby welcoming and affirming communities of faith. the invitation is available here, and the event poster is available here.

Discipleship Workshop with Right Reverend Richard Bott
November 5, 2019, 10:00 am – 4:00 pm at Riverview United Church 760 Highway #2, Elmsdale, NS.
In conversation with the Moderator, we’ll take a day to explore pathways of discipleship as U.N.I.T.E.D. people. Hopefully, by the end of the day, each of the participants will have a few tangible steps that they’d like to take on their Journey as Jesus’ people.

Region 15 – Association of Ministers update
Building on areas identified by clergy at our successful gathering last May and with the support of the Regional Council 15, the Association of Ministers Steering Committee has been working to create a new organization from the ground up. Follow this link to see things to note.

Affirming Ministry Service of Celebration St. James, Dartmouth, NS
St. James, Dartmouth, will be celebrating our official status as an Affirming Ministry at a service of celebration on Sunday, October 20 at 10 am.. Please join us for this wonderful historic milestone in the life of St James as we celebrate together our diversity, unity, and inclusiveness.
The service will feature guest speaker, Rev. Darryl MacDonald, current minister of Roxboro United Church, Roxboro, Quebec.

Commissioners to the 43rd General Council will meet again, this time online, on Saturday, October 19, at noon (EDT) to approve a few routine pieces of business and to constitute the new National Indigenous Organization. The meeting will be webcast through the church’s YouTube channel. It is expected that the meeting will last an hour or two, with Commissioners joining online from their homes or offices. Climate Crisis: What’s Faith Got to Do With It? Nov 1-2, 2019
An event for faith groups to explore the “Why?” and the “How?” of engaging in action for climate justice. Nov. 1- 2, 3pm Friday – 4:30pm Saturday, Tatamagouche Centre, Tatamagouche, NS. This event is open to anyone, but will be of particular interest to United Church folks who want to be more engaged in action for climate justice from a faith perspective. See Climate Crisis event flyer. It will be a mix of exploring practical local actions, wider advocacy, and deepening spiritual approaches to working for climate justice.
