Emergency Plan to Assist Regions and Congregations to be Prepared in the Event of a Health Emergency.

The United Church of Canada has updated its emergency plan to assist Regions and Congregations to be prepared in the event of a health emergency.  This is not meant to cause fear but to help us be prepared, and we ask that you review the attached document.  Guidelines for Communities of Faith start on page 10 of this document.  The Executive Minister, Faith March-MacCuish is the Primary conduit of information between the General Council, the committees and the communities of Faith.  The Emergency Coordinator for the Sackville Regional Council Office is Tracey Rose and she will be person who will send out communication to the Regions.  If you have any questions please be in touch with Rev. faith March-MacCuish fmaccuish@united-church.ca or 1-800-268-3781 ext 6156

With seven of the eight Our Mission, Our Vision regional gatherings complete and the information being analyzed, the final meeting has been planned.  Anyone who wishes to attend is welcome to attend.

Tatamagouche Centre – Upcoming Programs

Circle of Song: A weekend of learning uplifting songs & rhythms from around the world With Chris Maclean:  Community Choir Leadership Training program graduate (Ubuntu Choirs Network), registered Voice Movement Therapy (VMT) practitioner, and veteran singer-songwriter. She continues to study vocal improvisation and Circle Singing with Rhiannon and Bobby McFerrin, and authentic movement with Margie Gillis. No previous training or experience is required. Seniors bursaries available!

Home Death Care and Ceremonies 2020  In this hands-on workshop, we learn about the importance of ceremony and the practice of rituals for the different stages, before and after death. With Denise LeBlanc and Jules Jones.


Faithful Footprints Workshop

Does your green team or building committee need some advice about how to improve your congregation’s buildings in the future? If so, this workshop is the perfect place to learn about all the provincial and national energy efficiency/ renewable energy programs that can help your faith-based institution. Ben Grieder, the Efficiency Projects Coordinator from the Ecology Action Centre will be presenting some information and hand’s on activities to help everyone understand what resources can be used to get a retrofit building project completed. Beverages and snacks will be provided.

Lenten/advent folders

With no access to Lenten/advent folders anymore, the United Church Bookstore have decided to have our own printed.    View folder here.  The cost is $2.95 tax included for each folder.  As you can see by the inside picture the money that can be collected by using this folder is $25.00.   On the side where the Lenten prayer is there is a slot where you can put your $5 a week.   If you are interested in ordering any of the folders please contact Leona Laundry llaundry@united-church.ca or 1-800-268-3781 ext. 6141


Palestine Land Exercise

The Palestine Land Exercise is a participatory reenactment of Israel/Palestine history designed to help participants understand the history and current context of Palestine and Israel. The 60-70 minute Exercise involves participants reading scripts and experiencing the story as Palestinians followed by a 30-40 minute talking/sharing circle to integrate what has been learned and consider follow-up activities to foster a just peace in the Holy Land.   This session is free and open to the public. There are 30 spaces available so please contact Sandra Hennigar at 902-497-0953 if you wish to reserve a space.

Berwick Camp – 149th encampment – mark your calendars!

Berwick Camp would like to invite all to attend our 149th encampment in Berwick, NS, beginning July 24th and ending August 2nd. The “Minister-in-Residence” will be Nancy Steeves and “Theology for Today” will be led by L’Arche. Please join us for a very worthy event to your year!  More details to follow.


Seeking Copies of More Voices

St. David’s United Church, Bible Hill, NS, is seeking gently used copies of the More Voices hymnbook to enhance our current supply. If you know of any churches in your area who may be seeking a new home (due to amalgamation, closure, etc.) for their More Voices copies, we would be willing to help arrange pickup/delivery in order to provide a good home for them with our St. David’s church family.
