Wilmot United Church is seeking 2 new ministers (due to retirements), 1 full-time and 1 part-time, to continue God’s work with our downtown Affirming congregation. Fredericton is the capital of New Brunswick, located in the beautiful Saint John River Valley about an hour’s drive from the Bay of Fundy. We have two universities, a community college, an arts and craft school and excellent cultural, sports and health care facilities and the great outdoors is on our doorstep. This is a dynamic and affordable city in which to live!
Our ideal candidates will be excited to work in a team ministry comprising of a 1FTE and a 0.5 FTE. We are seeking ordained or diaconal ministers. We recently completed an extensive visioning process for our congregation. We are excited about embarking on expanding our understanding of being a downtown church that is faithful to God’s call to do justice, to love kindness and to walk humbly with one another. It is our hope to find ministers who will share our enthusiasm.
Wilmot United Church has vibrant and mighty outreach programs led by strong lay leaders. We are known throughout the city as a leader in social justice. We were the first United Church in town to officially become an Affirming congregation and we proudly display the rainbow outside our front door. We are an intellectually and theologically curious group of people. We like to think of ourselves as an open place where all are encouraged to share their faith journey. Persons of any age, ability, race, ethnicity, place of origin, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, family configuration, and social and economic circumstance are welcomed in our community of faith.
Our community connections run deep within Fredericton. The beautiful acoustics of our sanctuary make it a hotspot for the Harvest Jazz and Blues Festival, Shivering Songs Festival, the New Brunswick Symphony and many choirs.
