I am not a minister but I can imagine baptizing a child named after you must feel rather nice. Rev. A.M. DesBrisay must have thought so as he actually wrote “DesBrisay” in larger letters and then underlined it in the register when he recorded the baptism of James DesBrisay Black at Amherst Road, Nova Scotia, in 1861. Another child’s name a couple pages over was given the same treatment of the DesBrisay in the name. From what I have seen in the baptism registers over the years, it was not unheard of for parents to name their children after ministers but not often something you hear about now. Feel free to leave a comment below if you or someone you know was named after a minister.
