Has anyone decided to start off 2024 by joining a book club? In December 1908, the Presbyterian ministers of Lunenburg and Yarmouth Presbytery formed a Theological and Literary Club. The club seemed rather formal with a secretary appointed and a minister tasked with preparing a paper to present at the next meeting. With that said, I like to think that there was some more relaxed and fun discussions going on during the meetings too!
The first book chosen by the club was “The Fact of Conversion” by Rev. George Jackson. For anyone interested, the book is available to read online. It’s 236 pages which doesn’t seem horribly long but with such a weighty topic to be covered, I’m sure the members were relieved they had from December until March to read the book.
