Banquet in Honor of Cycle Platoon, 1914
After stumbling across this wonderful photograph, I was lucky enough to find a newspaper article which described the event. I love it when that happens! And yes, I know that makes me a nerdy archivist. The Presbyterian Witness Vol. LXVII, December 19, 1914 Farewell...
Archives Recipe of the Month
You may have already noticed that I have a thing for cookbooks. It's fun flipping through the pages and imagining a day when I actually have the ability to successfully pull off some of these dishes. One of the other great things about old cookbooks is the information...
A tale of two unions
June 10, 1925 was a big day in the history of The United Church of Canada and it was a big day for Lily Maynard and Morley Harvey as well! Lily Maynard, a registered nurse, and Morley Harvey, a farmer, were married at the groom's home in Newport, Nova Scotia. Both...

When the heat is getting to you…
It seems to be a well-accepted fact that Canadians love to talk and complain about the weather! For those of you, including me, who are finding the heat a bit much at times, here's a reminder of what we could be dealing with. The following report was published in The...
It’s Berwick time again
In celebration of Berwick Summer Camp which is happening next week, here is a brochure from the 1923 camp. Looks like a lot has changed in the past 100 years but the fun, fellowship, and learning continues!

After a somewhat long hiatus, I'm back to flood your inbox with random archival documents and photographs! At this time of year, I'm sure you are busy tending to their vegetable gardens and weeding their flowers but have you ever considered entering a flower show and...
