Awaiting the Already: An Advent Journey Through the Gospels

Each Gospel, in its own way, leads us on the Advent journey of preparation of Christ’s coming. This book takes a tour through the four Gospel narratives that announce Christ’s birth or make way for his ministry. Discover what parts of the Christmas story come from which Gospel, and uncover Advent’s tension between the past and the future within your own life. In doing so, you will recognize an invitation from each Gospel writer to prepare for a fresh experience of Christ in the present.

This study has five sessions, one for each Sunday of Advent and one for Christmas. It may be used by individuals or small groups during the Advent season. Each chapter offers questions for reflection and discussions, a brief prayer, and a focus for the upcoming week.
