Challenging Empire: Children Challenging Empire is an educational resource that reflects on the impact of empire on Jesus’ ministry and on our response to injustice today.  It is part of efforts to animate the report Living Faithfully in the Midst of Empire mandated by the 39th General Council 2006.

This volume is primarily meant for leaders of children’s groups.  It makes the concept of empire accessible with storytelling and activities, using the metaphor of empire as a bully.  Sunday School or Vacation Bible School leaders can choose from the thematic material offered to tailor the sessions to suit the time available and the age range of the children in the group.

Children Challenging Empire features:

• original stories that illustrate empire’s bullying behavior
• a process of contrasting “Empire Thinking” which “Disciple Thinking”
• the Empire Rap – an engaging rhyme that children will be excited to learn and share with the faith community
