Pictou Presbytery

Pictou Presbytery has history oozing from its midst – which point they modestly proclaim whenever given the opportunity!

It is said that James McGregor preached one of his first sermons, in 1786, under an Elm Tree at East River. The West River Seminary was an early school of Arts and Theology of the Presbyterian Church, and was the beginning of The Presbyterian College, founded in 1820, Pine Hill Divinity Hall, its re-named continuation, and Atlantic School of Theology, which in 1996 celebrated 25 years of ecumenical theological education.

Pictou Presbytery has 12 Pastoral Charges which cover the area of Nova Scotia along Northumberland Strait encompassing Pictou and Antigonish Counties with their inland Churches as well.
