Part-time Position
Under the direction of the senior minister and liaising closely with volunteers in the Sunday School
Program, families in the congregation and others in the community, the successful applicant will work
with children, youth, young adults and young families at Gower Street United Church.
Duties will include: Development and implementation of Sunday school curriculum ; establishment of a
Youth Group ; recruitment and training of Sunday School teachers and Youth Group leaders;
development and implementation of a new spiritual program for children with outreach to the wider
community; offer of seasonal activities for young families and other interested members and provision
of direction and support to the Christian Education Committee.
This position is an important entity of the overall ministry team of Gower United. Future duties may
include work with the LGBTQ community, university students, young professionals or other identified
stakeholders, especially those in the downtown core.
Qualifications
Experience working with young people in a supervisory or leadership role in a church, school or youth
organization. Training in religious studies, education, youth engagement, business administration or
marketing would be assets. Being computer literate and having a good grasp of social media is essential.
Terms of Employment 12 hours weekly @ $20 an hour
