4. Breaking the Silence Coffee Benefit Concert.

Breaking the Silence benefit concert with Dave Gunning and Garnet Rogers, Sharon United Chureh, Tatamagouche 2pm Sun. June 2nd.

The Maritimes-Breaking the Silence Network, a longtime United Church partner, is delighted to announce that two of Canada’s most renowned folk musicians, Dave Gunning and Garnet Rogers (brother of Stan Rogers) will combine their gifts for an extraordinary afternoon of music and story-telling at Sharon United Church, Tatamagouche Sunday, June 2nd 2pm.  Tickets at the door. Suggested donation $20. Half of the funds raised will go to the Breaking the Silence Human Rights Solidarity Network to ensure a constant BTS presence with our partners in a highly challenging human rights period in Guatemala. Half will go to support the Rabinal New Hope High School-Tatamagouche School/Community Project. We would love to see you in Tatamagouche for a fabulous afternoon of music.

The Maritimes-Guatemala Breaking the Silence Network (BTS), a  partner of the Justice, Mission and Outreach Committees, is offering cases of Breaking the Silence Fair Trade Coffee (ground) at the wholesale price ($58 for 6 12 oz. bags per case or $24.25 for a 2-lb. bag.) We make this offer to encourage churches to purchase Breaking the Silence coffee on an ongoing basis, buying wholesale from Just Us! for church events. Orders must be received no later than Thurs., May 16thEmail orders to Kathryn Anderson, kathrynande@gmail.com. Pay by cheque or cash at the BTS table at the Annual Meeting, gorgeous new crafts from Guatemala will also be for sale, including a great selection of baby gifts and children’s toys, great for grand-parents seeking something fun!


5. AVEL VHS Resources Available for Free at Annual Meeting

Due to low demand, AVEL has culled its VHS collection. For anyone who owns a VCR or knows someone who does, the VHS tapes will be displayed during annual meeting at the Civic Centre and are free to take home.
