As our United Church turns 101 June 10, it’s a great opportunity to think about connecting with others on important milestone and memory days. Did you have a great turn out for the 100th anniversary last year, perhaps worked with other communities of faith, sent special invitations, how about a summer celebration reaching out for this 101? Is there an annual event that could bloom? Who haven’t you seen since Covid? Make that phone call and check in. Send cards on anniversaries of Baptisms, weddings, confirmations, birthdays, graduations, retirement, and any other kinds of honouring. Perhaps review your funeral registry and send out thinking of you and encouragement cards on anniversaries. Look at other special events and activities done and perhaps there are some people who would appreciate your “remember when…” conversations. Phone calls, cards, and letters all make a difference. One community of faith sent out letters asking about the place of the church in their community and nearly seventy people showed up at a meeting, expressing the importance of “my church” and “our church.” Be curious and connect!
