1. Region 15 Governance Handbook
Do you know that the Region 15 Governance Handbook is posted on the Region 15 page on the Maritime Conference website? It is found under the “About Us” section. You can also access it by clicking here. In a couple of weeks there will be a recorded training session available to help you to become familiar with this living document. In the meantime, please take some time to read through it.
2. Climate Change Webinar, January 25, 4 pm
The Church in Action Environment Working Group invites you to join the Webinar described below. The annual U.N. climate change conference in Katowice, Poland (COP24) ended on December 15, 2018, and many are wondering what actually happened and what it means for climate action moving forward. Climate Action Network Canada (a United Church partner) is offering a free webinar with a full overview of all the top issues and events from COP24 plus ideas for what comes next. Various perspectives from Canadian civil society will be explored.
This webinar will take place on January 25, 2019 at 4 pm AT. Click here to register.
The United Church, KAIROS Canada, and the Primate’s World Relief and Development Fund partnered to send two observers to COP24. Read observer Jessica Steele’s final reflections on the global climate conference here.
3. Designated Lay Ministers Webinar, January 30
A group of DLMs (Designated Lay Ministers) have set up a webinar for 1pm (EST), Wednesday, January 30th to discuss a draft document for establishing a DLM Community of Practice (A National Community of Practice Celebrating and Advocating for Designated Lay Ministers). We have sent out emails to every DLM (in active ministry, retired, in training), using a list from the General Council Office.
In case you did not receive it, the email we sent out is posted on the brand new DLM FaceBook page or you can read it by clicking here.
DLMs are invited to apply to join our Facebook Group https://www.facebook.com/groups/270448346956694/
Contact the interim planning committee through this email, particularly to RSVP your planned participation in the webinar: designatedlayminister@gmail.com
