1. Condolences – Rev. Dr. Robert “Bob” Wallace

The office has been notified that Rev. Dr. Robert “Bob” Wallace has passed away.  A link to the obituary will be shared next week.


2. Condolences – Lawrence Meredith “Larry” Davis

Larry Davis a long-time lay rep from Wesley Methodist in Bermuda has passed away, read his obituary here.


3. Condolences – Peter deMarsh, son of Edna & the late Rev. Roy deMarsh

Peter deMarsh, son of Edna deMarsh and the late Rev. Roy deMarsh, passed away on March 10, 2019 in the Ethiopian Airlines crash.  Obituary is not available at this time.


4. Registration for Regional Council 14 & 15 Meeting

The  Regional Council 14 & 15 meeting will be held at the Tantramar Veterans Memorial Centre (Arena) in Sackville, NB, May 23 to 26, 2019.

6. Region 15 – We need your gifts!

Friends, could you help Region 15 by nominating yourself or someone else for one of these positions? These are just a few of the available positions.

Chair and Members: Incorporated Ministries Committee
Incorporated ministries include camps and outreach ministries and this committee will be a support to this vitally important work. The committee will provide oversight and assistance to these ministries.

Members: Archives and History Committee
This committee will work directly with Sarah Wallace, our archivist, to support the work of the archives. It is a great learning opportunity for anyone passionate about history!

Members: Faith Formation and Leadership Development committee
This committee will create leadership development and faith formation opportunities throughout the region. If you have a passion for learning, we could use your gifts in this role.

Designated Lay Ministers
We have two roles specifically for Designated Lay Ministers: the Division of Ministry Resources and the Licensing Committee. We would love to have your gifts and perspective!

A place of community and a place of faith –  register for I@C and YF today! Join other United Church youth from across the Maritimes, the Gaspe, and Bermuda. I@C and YF take place during the Annual Meeting of Regions 14 & 15, which is a gathering of representatives who make decisions and set policies for the United Church of Canada. YF and I@C meet as two separate groups. Each group creates an inclusive, diverse and safe community of over a hundred youth in the name of Christ. Each provides a place for youth to explore their faith and to learn more about the United Church while sharing in music, worship and fun in a spirit-filled community.

10. Licensed Lay Worship Leaders Atlantic:

Learning Unit 3 Pentecost – Preach it! Tatamagouche Centre, April 26-28. Open to all lay leaders who offer pulpit supply, those who are currently serving or hope to serve as LLWL.  Full details here.


11. Home Death Care and Ceremonies

April 5-7, 2019 offered by Denise LeBlanc and Jules Jones.

In a different time and place, we knew how to care for our loved ones as they were dying. It was something we did as a community and learned from our ancestors. Today, as we reclaim this knowledge and learn about practices and our options, we can create personal and meaningful vigils and funerals at home.  Register here


12. The Universal Christ: another name for everything

The Universal Christ: another name for everything features keynote speakers Richard Rohr, John Dominic Crossan and Jacqui Lewis.  The event will be live webcast March 28-31 at Marysville United Church, 351 Canada Street, Fredericton.

Sessions:
Thursday March 28, 5:30 – 8:30 pm
Friday March 29, 2:15 – 9:00 pm
Saturday March 30, 11:30 am – 8:30 pm; and
Sunday March 31, 12 – 3.30 pm

Cost is $30 for the event or $12.00 per session.  A donation basket will be put out for the light suppers and refreshments.  The schedule can be found on the Facebook page: Universal Christ: Fredericton.  Register by sending your name, email and phone number to universalchristfredericton@gmail.com
