Stewardship Staffing
Roger Janes, our Regional Stewardship Support Staff, will retire at the end of December. While the process to choose his successor is set to begin early in the new year, clergy and pastoral charge leaders seeking stewardship resources and support in the in-between time should e-mail: stewardship@united-church.ca. The Community of Faith Stewardship team is there to help you.
Roger would like to extend to all pastoral charges and outreach ministries in the Region his very best wishes and to offer a big thank you to all those people and communities of faith he had the privilege to work with.
Roger
Year End Cluster Update
Year-End Cluster Update: The BNS Regional Council has extended the position of Cluster Animator to May 31, 2026. Rev. Robyn Brown-Hewitt will be continuing to serve in this capacity. Clusters are neighborly groups of United Church ministers and/or lay members who meet for mutual support, collaborative events or common interests. In 2025, there were 13 clusters meeting across the BNS Region. Six clusters are composed of neighboring ministry personnel. Six new clusters formed in 2025 and have meeting dates set for 2026. Five of these are composed of community of faith lay representatives and ministry personnel. One new cluster, called Administry, has been formed by UCC Church Administrators. Two more clusters (for lay representatives and ministry personnel) are in beginning stages. Cluster meetings have included lots of laughter, community building, storytelling, future planning, and good food. If you are interested in forming or joining a cluster in your area, contact Robyn at RBrown-Hewitt@united-church.ca.
Free Advent, Christmas and Epiphany Resources
Thanks for your support this past year with my ministry of resource writing. It’s surely been a learning curve, and I appreciate your patience as I figure out how to produce a weekly curriculum for all ages that is based in both Narrative and Revised Common Lectionaries, specifically for communities in the Eastern Regions of the United Church of Canada that may or may not have children present and likely have between 10 and 30 people. At the “Young” Clergy gathering in November, it became clear that more of us are looking to collaborate and share resources for Sunday Morning Worship. In an effort to reach more people and increase the number of resources available, I have decided to make the majority of my resources free. If you like what you download/see and decide to come back for more, please consider making a donation to cover the costs of the sharing platform, offering resources for free yourself, and/or other collaborative and cooperative ideas to help each other out as we navigate ministry in communities looking towards 2035. Visit the site to see what’s available and what my plan for the season is.
Thanks, Annika
