Nominations are open for President-Elect
Regional Council 15 is seeking nominations for President-Elect of Regional Council 15. The president serves for a total of 3 years: as president-elect, president, and past president. The President Elect will serve as a member of the regional executive, leading our region in the work and ministry of Regional Council 15, within the bounds of Nova Scotia and Bermuda. Serving as president of the region offers many unique and exciting opportunities to engage in the work and life of Region 15.
More information on the role of president can be found here.
As this election will take place through the Annual meeting held online, no nominations will be accepted from the floor, due to the nature of the online voting process. All nominations must be received by May 13, 2022 at midnight. Nominations are open to all members of the regional council of Region 15, including ministry personnel and lay representatives. To submit your nomination, please fill out the form here.
Each nomination must include the names of two people who will move the nomination. These people must be members of regional council. The nomination does need to come from the governing body of your local community of faith, it just needs to be 2 people from the region who support the nomination.
If you have any questions, please contact Nominations Chair, Rev. Alicia Cox.
Region 15 periodically offers M&P webinars and workshops. A webinar was already held this spring, and the next will be held later in the fall. In the meantime, our friend Kendall Harrison, Regional Minister for Fundy St. Lawrence Dawning Waters Regional Council is offering an M&P webinar on May 28, 2022. He has extended the invitation to include M&P Committee members from Region 15. Please see the information on the poster, and direct any questions to Kendall.

Lepreau Nuclear Power Application for 25 year licence renewal Interventions
New Brunswickers and others have submitted “Interventions” either in support of, or against, the approval of a licence to operate the Lepreau station until 2047. The Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission regulator (CNSC) will hold hearings on these interventions in Saint John NB on May 11 and 12, 2022, which will be live streamed. A comprehensive intervention against the 25 year application was submitted jointly by the Coalition for Responsible Energy Development – NB and the Canadian Environmental Law Association. It can be accessed through links from the CRED-NB website https://crednb.ca/2022/03/29/a-25-year-nuclear-licence-for-nb-power-cred-nb-and-cela-intervene/. The 40 recommendations include procedural as well as safety concerns, including the much wider ‘Ingestion Zone’ required in the event of a serious radioactive event. All interventions will be posted by CNSC.
