Planning for Health Emergencies

We have been asked to share this information so that our communities of faith can be prepared and so that we continue to be good neighbours in our local communities.  Health Canada and General Council are asking Faith communities to err on the side of caution and be prepared in the event of a Health Emergency in the Faith Community.  A document, found here, has been provided that details what the risks may be and what Congregations can do to be prepared and manage any risks.

Training for Pastoral Relations Liaisons: January 15 from 7-9PM

The Pastoral Relations Committee needs additional persons to serve as Pastoral Relations Liaisons with Communities of Faith that are seeking new pastoral relationships. Liaisons assist Communities of Faith to create or update their Community of Faith Profile and with the Search and Selection of a Ministry Personnel. Training, print and online resources, and ongoing support is provided by the Regional Minister. A online training event will be held on Thursday January 15th from 7-9PM. Email the Regional Minister lbruce@united-church.ca if you would like more information about serving in this capacity or would like to register for this training event.

Sacraments Elder

The Pastoral Relations Committee of the Region is working toward enacting procedures to support the licensing of Sacrament Elders in communities of faith where there is a need. Those Communities of Faith who feel they have a need for a Sacrament Elder are encouraged to review the handbook, Sacraments Elder and begin to consider who may be a suitable candidate from their Community of Faith.

Early in the New Year, the Pastoral Relations Committee will offer two 2-hour online sessions (baptism and communion) for those who may be open to the possibility of serving as a Sacraments Elder for their Pastoral Charge. Participation in both sessions will be required for anyone considering serving as a Sacraments Elder.
