Stewardship Staffing

Roger Janes, our Regional Stewardship Support Staff, will retire at the end of December. While the process to choose his successor is set to begin early in the new year, clergy and pastoral charge leaders seeking stewardship resources and support in the in-between time should e-mail: stewardship@united-church.ca. The Community of Faith Stewardship team is there to help you.

Roger would like to extend to all pastoral charges and outreach ministries in the Region his very best wishes and to offer a big thank you to all those people and communities of faith he had the privilege to work with.

Roger

Gathering of Pastoral Charge Supervisors: January 6 from 1-3PM

Those serving as Pastoral Charge Supervisors are invited to gather online on January 6 from 1-3PM to share experiences and learnings with one another and the Regional Minister for Pastoral Relations and Community of Faith Support. Pastoral Charge Supervisors are a key link between the Region and those Communities of Faith that are without a regularly settled or appointed Minister. It is hoped that this gathering will offer some advice to the Pastoral Relations Committee in its support of Pastoral Charge Supervisors.  If you are serving as a Pastoral Charge Supervisor and did not get an email invitation to this event, please contact the Regional Minister at lbruce@united-church.ca and he will insure that you receive an invitation to the online meeting.

Gathering for M&P Committee Chairs (and others): January 6 from 7-8:30PM

Those serving as Chairpersons of Pastoral Charge Ministry and Personnel Committee (and other members of the Committee) are invited to gather online on January 6 from 7-8:30PM to share experiences and learnings with one another and the Regional Minister for Pastoral Relations and Community of Faith Support. This gathering will serve to inform planning for future training events for M&P Committees into the New Year.  If you are serving as a Chair or Member of a Ministry and Personnel Committee and did not get an email invitation to this event, please contact the Regional Minister at lbruce@united-church.ca and he will insure that you are invited.

Training for Pastoral Relations Liaisons: January 15 from 7-9PM

The Pastoral Relations Committee needs additional persons to serve as Pastoral Relations Liaisons with Communities of Faith that are seeking new pastoral relationships. Liaisons assist Communities of Faith to create or update their Community of Faith Profile and with the Search and Selection of a Ministry Personnel. Training, print and online resources, and ongoing support is provided by the Regional Minister. A online training event will be held on Thursday January 15th from 7-9PM. Email the Regional Minister lbruce@united-church.ca if you would like more information about serving in this capacity or would like to register for this training event.

Free Advent, Christmas and Epiphany Resources

Thanks for your support this past year with my ministry of resource writing. It’s surely been a learning curve, and I appreciate your patience as I figure out how to produce a weekly curriculum for all ages that is based in both Narrative and Revised Common Lectionaries, specifically for communities in the Eastern Regions of the United Church of Canada that may or may not have children present and likely have between 10 and 30 people. At the “Young” Clergy gathering in November, it became clear that more of us are looking to collaborate and share resources for Sunday Morning Worship. In an effort to reach more people and increase the number of resources available, I have decided to make the majority of my resources free. If you like what you download/see and decide to come back for more, please consider making a donation to cover the costs of the sharing platform, offering resources for free yourself, and/or other collaborative and cooperative ideas to help each other out as we navigate ministry in communities looking towards 2035. Visit the site to see what’s available and what my plan for the season is.

Thanks, Annika
