Condolences: Kenneth Grant Kerr (Grant)
Condolences are extended to the family of Grant Kerr who passed away on September 15, 2026. Grant worked for the United Church of Canada in many lay leadership roles in the Maritimes and Ontario and was a beloved member of the Waverley Pastoral Charge. A celebration of his life will take place at St. John’s United Church, Fall River, on Saturday, September 26th at 3pm. The obituary can be viewed here.

Executive Minutes
The minutes of the FSLDW Regional Council Executive meeting held June 9, 2026 were approved at the September 15-16, 2026 Executive meeting and are now available on the FSLDW website.
Monthly Gathering of M&P Committee Chairs
On the first Wednesday of each month the Regional Minister hosts a Zoom gathering for M&P Committee Chairs (and other members). This is an opportunity, in confidence, to ask questions, and share experiences best practices as we seek to do this important work well.
To be added to (or removed) from the list of M&P Contacts that the Regional Minister maintains and sends the Zoom link to, please email lbruce@united-church.ca with M&P Contact/Name of Pastoral Charge in the subject line and your name, address, phone number and email address in the body of the email.
The next gathering is scheduled for Wednesday October 7th from 7PM to 8:30PM. The Zoom link will be sent out on Sunday October 4th.
Workshop: Guidelines for a Community of Faith Profile
October 15th from 6:30PM to 8:30PM via Zoom
The Regional Minister is hosting a workshop for those who are assisting communities of faith in preparing their Community of Faith Profile. Please ensure that you have downloaded a copy of Guidelines for a Community of Faith Profile.
The workshop is open to individuals from congregations and those serving or considering serving as Pastoral Relations Liaisons.
A future workshop will be offered on Search and Selection.

Workshop for Pastoral Charge Supervisors, October 22nd from 6:30PM to 8:30PM via Zoom
The Regional Minister is hosting a workshop for those who are serving as Pastoral Charge Supervisors and those considering serving in this role. The. goal of the workshop is to offer an offer an opportunity to share experiences and wisdom, and offer support and encouragement as the demand and complexity of the work increases. FSLDW Sacraments Elder Training

Is your pastoral charge without a minister and struggling to find a supply minister who can offer communion and the sacrament of baptism? Is your minister unable to be in two places at once to offer communion on the same Sunday?
Are you willing to be trained to serve as a Sacraments Elder? For more information visit this page.
Speak to your governing body and present them with the form Request for Licensing: Sacraments Elder. They may complete the form and send it to lbruce@united-church.ca with Sacraments Elder in the subject line.
Six registrants are required to proceed, deadline for registration is Friday, October 23. Lunch and snacks will be provided.

Godly Play Core Training 2026
The Godly Play Maritimer Trainers are offering three consecutive days of Core Storyteller Training this fall!
Friday, October 23 at 2 p.m. – Sunday, October 25 at 4 p.m.
Southwest River United Church, PEI
$350 — includes two suppers, two lunches, and nutritional breaks
Overnight accommodations are the responsibility of participants.
This intensive training will equip participants to tell Godly Play stories while developing a deeper understanding of children’s spirituality and the Godly Play method.

Weekly Zoom Drop-in with UCC East Growth and Stewardship Animators Rob and Sharon
This weekly Zoom drop-in gathering has a NEW time beginning on Tuesday September 15 at 11:45am and most Tuesdays after that. Both the Growth and Stewardship Animators – Rob (FSLDW & FDEE) and Sharon (BNS and FDEE) will be present most weeks.
Come and chat about whatever might be on your heart; joys, concerns, ideas, laments, hopes! Eating your lunch onscreen is most welcome.
FSLDW’s Animator, Rob, will still be on the road for the September 15th date. But other than when he’s travelling he’ll be there most weeks. Please email rshearer@united-church.ca for the Zoom Link (or sballantyne@united-church.ca if it’s before September 15).
