Planning is well underway for the 3rd Annual Meeting of Fundy St. Lawrence Dawning Waters Regional Council, being held on June 4-5,and 14, 2021.  In preparation for the Annual Meeting, the Executive is offering three webinars so that members are able to ask questions for clarification about the matters that we will be voting on at the meeting. It will help all of us have a productive meeting in June to have as many people as possible take part in the webinars. Thank you for your commitment to this United Church of ours and to your Regional Council. As more information becomes available, it will be posted on the website. In preparation for the webinars and the Annual Meeting, please take the time to read the posted material, including the Agenda, accessed using the link: Annual Meeting 2021

Serving as President of the Region offers many unique and exciting opportunities to engage in the work and life of the Region. More information on the role of President can be found here.

The 44th General Council of The United Church of Canada will meet in July 2022, entirely online, for the first time in the history of the United Church.  We encourage you to prayerfully consider serving as a General Council commissioner, which provides you a unique opportunity to be part of the wider church and have an impact on the future of The United Church of Canada. General Council Commissioners are voting members of the General Council meeting, and serve as commissioners for 3 years. More information about the role of a commissioner can be found here.

All nominees must be either elected lay representatives of a community of faith within the bounds of the Region, or ministry personnel within the bounds of the Region. Each nomination needs to moved and seconded by someone other than the Nominee (no self nominations), and the mover and seconder must be a member of a community of faith within the bounds of the Region. These nominations do not need to be passed through a governing body of a community of faith.

Call to Preach for Palestine and Israel

“I have called you by your name
You are mine
I have gifted you and ask you now to shine.”

It’s a song we treasure – a thought we treasure – to be called by name.

On this Pentecost Sunday we are asking you to extend this same blessing to the people of the Sheikh Jarrah neighbourhood in East Jerusalem.  We ask you to talk about their situation during your worship time and to pray for them as they face eviction from their homes of 50 years because of a ruling by the Israeli Court.

Our Christian kindred in Palestine are calling people of faith to take prophetic actions and to speak out boldly against their oppression. Here is a link to their call.  Please read it, share it, and incorporate it into your service. https://www.kairospalestine.ps/images/kairos-palestine-call-for-world-solidarity.pdf

The United Church of Canada asks us to take action to stop the latest evictions of Palestinians from East Jerusalem: https://united-church.ca/social-action/act-now/stop-latest-palestinian-evictions-east-jerusalem

Rev. Marianna Harris offers a prayer for use in your service: Pentecost and Sheikh Jarrah
